The History of Jeans in Fashion Industry




 Nowadays, jeans or denim are one of those essential fashion designs that are taken for granted by the many people both men and women.  They reach for your favorites that have become almost part of you with age. They are friends that go well with almost anything else in your wardrobe and you pull them on without thought. Jeans are undeniably a fashion mainstay, but that isn’t always the case. In fact, jeans are one fashion design that has definitely had its ups and downs and changed throughout time. Take a look at the its history throughout the years. 

Jeans had the original from a kind of material that was made in Europe, and this material had the jeans’ name, was named after sailors from Genoa in Italy, because they wore clothes made from it. At the first time, jean cloth was made from a mixture of things. However, in the eighteenth century because of the increased trade, slave labour, and cotton plantations, jean cloth was made completely from cotton. And all workers wore it because the material was very strong and it did not wear out easily. Then, in 1848, gold was found in California (not too far from San Francisco) and the famous Gold Rush began. The gold miners wanted clothes that were strong and did not tear easily, so jeans is the perfect choice for them.  In the 1930's, Hollywood made lots of western movies - Cowboys that had the major actor who often wore jeans in the movies-made jeans become very popular. In from 1950’s to 1960’s, jeans became popular with young people. Different styles of jeans were made to match the 60's fashions such as embroidered jeans, painted jeans, psychedelic jeans... In the 1980's jeans finally became high fashion clothing, when famous designers started was making their own styles of jeans, with their own labels on them. Finally, sales of jeans went up and up.

At the 21st century, jeans is strongly increasing with the variety of styles and famous brands as well as the establishment of mass stores like crop pants for women, diesel jeans, james jeans, ag jeans…Jeans also became a fashion staple once again, became an appropriate item of clothing to wear out on a Friday night or even to the office thanks to its comfort.
